Chapter 2
'What's wrong?' said Jeanie.
'I guess... I need it again...' replied Rick.
'I seriously think it's time to quit your smoking habit, I mean, it's not good for you...'
'SHUT UP, will you? If your purpose here is to deliver your incessant nagging, then quit it!'
'Fine then...' replied Jeanie. She was once part of Rick's gang of punks and pickpockets, but since a friend of hers brought her to church, things started to change. Meanwhile, as she looked at her poor brother with pity, she felt really helpless. Though their parents were too busy to know about their lifestyles, she knew they would eventually find out one day.
Mr. Peter looked at the photos in horror. He did not know that his son actually mixed with such youngsters.
'Tell me Ben, are you sure this is true?'
'Well, cameras don't lie, do they?' replied Ben.
'I'm really gonna scold him this time, but I'm not too sure how...'
'Well, you may wanna try some counselling at my church, it offers...'
'I don't believe in God, neither will I let my precious son go to any single church for any single thing! At worst, I'll leave it to the police to do everything.'
Ben sighed. Mr Peter having discipline problems with his son, but Ben knew Rick well, though they had not communicated much. He had seen Rick crying at the void deck at times when he was alone. He knew that Rick was only putting up a tough act.
As Joseph walked out of the cybercafe, he saw Joash, his classmate, and they chanced upon a conversation.
'How's life?' Joash asked.
'Daily routines... Gruesome school, games, gadgets, girlfriends...'
'Hmmm... You seem to be missing a G, a big G, see if you can guess it...'
'Not interested...' came Joseph's usual reply.
'Come on!'
'errr.... goals, goalkeepers, grades?'
'God.' answered Joash. 'God, He's the source to all meaning and...'
'There you go again, talking about some God which I don't even care about...' said Joseph, who hurriedly strolled away.
'Good friday's round the corner, my church has a special programme specially lined up for people like you, hope to see you there!' shouted Joash, just before Joseph disappeared from his sight.
